There are many advantages participating in FSJ:
You get a monthly pocket money and sometimes free lodging and board. Please note: This may not always be enough to cover your expenses and to ascertain that you get a visum!
You take part in 25 days of education.
The travel costs, food and accommodation for the days of education are all covered.
The place of assignment or the agency pays your monthly legal social insurance (unemployment-, pension- and health insurance).
Your year of FSJ includes at least 24 vacation days.
At the end of your FSJ you get a certificate. It lists up exactly what kind of tasks you did in your place of assignment and what you’ve learned.
For the duration of your FSJ you get an ID which gets you discounts at many places. For example it is often accepted for public transport or in cinemas and museums.
